Our private family sessions are designed for families seeking a more private atmosphere. The session includes 2 adults and 2 kids. To ensure a good session, the surf level of the family has to be the same, as the surf coach can't teach surfers in the whitewater and in the lineup at the same time. We often recommend the private family session for families where one kid is too young for our group lesson. In the private family surf session, the mini surfers can receive the special attention they need. We certainly provide all the equipment needed. The adults are equipped with a 4/3mm wetsuit, and the kids with a 5/4mm wetsuit. How do I know if my kid is ready to surf? Your kid should be comfortable in the water and should have basic swim abilities. The lesson for the small ones will take place in a maximum hip-high water. Your experience begins with a Meet & Greet at Quinta Formosinho, where your dedicated surfcoach welcomes your family. Each participant is fitted with high-quality full-body wetsuits, selected for comfort and thermal performance. Children are equipped with warm 5/4 mm wetsuits, while parents receive flexible 4/3 mm suits—ensuring optimal mobility and warmth in Atlantic conditions.

After equipment fitting and completion of all required waivers, we head to the beach. The surf spot is chosen on the same day by our professional team, based on real-time weather, swell, and safety conditions. This ensures the best possible learning environment and a relaxed, stress-free experience for the whole family.

Upon arrival at the beach, your surfcoach prepares the equipment while you change into surfwear. After a short, focused warm-up, the session begins. Coaching is fully adapted to your family’s level, with special attention given to first-time surfers and children. Small, private group instruction allows for fast progression, confidence building, and a truly personal experience.

Safety is our highest priority. Our qualified surfcoache accompany you in the water at all times, providing close supervision, clear guidance, and a secure environment that supports efficient learning and enjoyment.

After approximately two hours of surf time, we return to the vehicles, change, and drive back to Quinta Formosinho—usually with a strong sense of achievement and the desire to continue surfing.
