Our Discover & Rent concept is designed for experienced climbing families and surf-hungry families who already have basic skills and want to make the most of their time in the Algarve. Instead of spending valuable holiday hours organising equipment, searching for the right gear, or transporting bulky luggage across Europe, we provide everything you need to head straight into your next adventure.
From family-friendly surfboards and warm wetsuits to climbing shoes, harnesses, helmets, ropes and complete outdoor climbing setups, our equipment is carefully selected, professionally maintained, and tested in the conditions we use ourselves every day.
Located at Quinta Formosinho in Praia da Luz, our rental base offers quick access to some of the Algarve's most beautiful surf beaches, sea cliffs, sport climbing crags, and bouldering areas. Whether you are planning a relaxed family surf day, a week of independent climbing adventures, or a mixed climb-and-surf holiday, our equipment allows you to stay flexible and travel light.
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all rentals. Our team consists of experienced climbers, surf coaches, and outdoor professionals who know the local conditions. We are happy to share recommendations on suitable beaches, climbing sectors, weather conditions, tides, and family-friendly adventure options to help you make the most of your stay.

Premium Equipment for Safe Family Climbing Adventures
When it comes to climbing equipment, we believe that quality is never optional. Your safety, comfort, and confidence on the rock depend on reliable gear that performs when it matters most. That is why we only work with equipment from trusted industry leaders such as Black Diamond, Ocún, Mammut, Edelrid, and Petzl.
Whether you are planning a family climbing holiday, a day at the local crag, or a week of exploring the Algarve's limestone cliffs, we provide professionally maintained equipment that we trust ourselves and use during our guided climbing activities.
Our rental fleet includes climbing shoes, harnesses, helmets, ropes, quickdraws, belay devices, slings, carabiners, and complete climbing setups for families and experienced climbers alike. For belaying, we exclusively rent assisted-braking devices such as the Petzl GriGri Neox, and the Edelrid OHM for climbing families and partners who enjoy lead climbing and want an additional level of safety when climbing with different weight ratios.
We stock climbing shoes from EU size 30 to 50, making it easy to equip both young climbers and adults. Nevertheless, experienced climbers will usually achieve the best performance and comfort in their own shoes. If you have the possibility, we always recommend bringing your personal climbing shoes. However, if they were forgotten at home or travelling light was part of the plan, there is no need to worry.
Our goal is simple: when you arrive in the Algarve, you should have everything required to start climbing immediately. No last-minute shopping, no missing equipment, and no compromises on safety.

Quality Rental Surf Equipment for Independent Family Surf Adventures
The best surf trips often begin when lessons are no longer necessary.
If your family already has surf experience, understands basic surf etiquette, can navigate the lineup responsibly, and is familiar with ocean conditions such as currents, tides, and changing surf conditions, it may be time to discover the Algarve on your own.
Our Family Surf Rental Line is designed for surfing families who want the freedom to explore the incredible variety of waves along the Algarve's south and west coast while relying on high-quality, well-maintained equipment.
Our rental fleet includes a carefully selected range of surfboards suitable for different ages, abilities, and wave conditions. Choose from Longboards, Midlengths, Performance Shortboards, Performer Softboards, and family-friendly Soft Tops ranging from 6'0" to 8'6" for both children and adults. Whether you are introducing your children to small summer waves or looking for a board that allows you to maximise your own water time, we can help you find the right setup.
Comfort in the water is equally important. That is why we use quality wetsuits from Surface and O'Neill, chosen for warmth, flexibility, and durability. Our children's wetsuits range from size 4 to 14 years and are predominantly 5/3 mm, providing extra warmth and comfort for younger surfers. Adult wetsuits are available in 4/3 mm, ideal for year-round surfing conditions in the Algarve.
Travelling with a rental car? No problem. To help you access the region's many surf beaches safely and conveniently, we also provide soft roof racks (Soft Racks) that can be securely mounted to most rental vehicles within minutes. This allows you to transport surfboards safely without the need for a dedicated surf vehicle.
While we are always happy to share local knowledge about beaches, conditions, tides, and family-friendly surf spots, our rental service is intended for families who are comfortable making independent decisions in the ocean.

FAQ Family Climb & Surf Gear
Yes. All climbing equipment is visually inspected before every rental and regularly checked according to manufacturer recommendations. Equipment showing excessive wear is immediately removed from service.
We only work with trusted climbing brands including Black Diamond, Petzl, Mammut, Edelrid, and Ocún. These are the same brands used by us climbing private and guides worldwide.
Yes. Our rental equipment is intended for climbers who already know how to belay, manage rope systems, perform partner checks, have knowledge of multipitch climbing and climb independently. If you are new to climbing, we recommend joining one of our guided climbing trips.
Normal wear is expected and covered by us. Damage caused by misuse, loss, neglect, or use outside normal climbing activities may be charged at replacement or repair cost.
Absolutely. We offer climbing shoes from EU size 30 and child-sized helmets and fullbody harnesses. Parents remain responsible for supervising their children and ensuring safe climbing practices.
Yes. Depending on your needs, we provide 60m single ropes, quickdraws, helmets, harnesses, Petzl GriGri, GriGri Neox, Mammut Smart and Edelrid OHM devices as part of your rental package.
No problem. Our goal is to provide everything required for a safe family climbing day. Most families only need to bring suitable clothing, water, a smile and their climbing experience.
Yes. Our rental equipment is intended for surfers who understand basic surf etiquette, ocean safety, currents, and lineup behaviour. If you are new to surfing, we recommend booking a lesson first.
Small pressure dents and normal wear are part of surfing and are expected. Significant damage such as broken fins, cracks, snapped boards, or impact damage may result in repair or replacement charges depending on the extent of the damage.
Yes. We offer a range of softboards and family-friendly boards suitable for children and adults. Our team can help you choose equipment based on age, size, and surfing ability.
Children's wetsuits are available from approximately 4 to 14 years of age in 5/3 mm thickness. Adult wetsuits are available in various sizes ( Men: XS-2XXL & Women: 4-16) and are typically 4/3 mm, suitable for Algarve conditions throughout the year.
Yes. We offer Soft Racks that can be safely mounted to most rental cars. Our team will explain how to use them correctly before you leave.
The ocean changes constantly. It is the responsibility of each surfer to assess conditions before entering the water. We are always happy to provide local information, but the final decision remains with the renter.
Bring swimwear, towels, water, sunscreen (50+), sunsticks can be purchased in our shop and a sense of adventure. We provide the equipment needed to help your family discover the Algarve's incredible surf coastline.
Our rental equipment is intended for families with previous climbing or surfing experience. Beginners are welcome to join our guided surf lessons and climbing trips before renting equipment independently.

Please note: We only have space in the van for the participants so if you book your kid(s) into our courses we CANNOT guarantee a space in the van for the parent to come along - even though we love families to be together.

The Algarve offers a wide variety of climbing areas, from family-friendly inland crags to spectacular sea cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. To help you choose the right destination, we classify our climbing areas into three experience categories.
Inland Crags
Perfect for first-time climbers, families, and beginner lead climbers
- Top Rope Beginner (UIAA 3–V | French 3–5a+)

These sheltered inland sectors provide easy access, short approaches, and a relaxed environment for developing climbing skills and building confidence on real rock.
Coastal Cliffs – Intermediate
For climbers with previous outdoor climbing experience

- Lead Climb Intermediate (UIAA 5–6+ | French 5a–6a)

For experienced climbers seeking technical routes and exposure

These spectacular sea cliff locations provide some of the Algarve's most rewarding climbing. Expect steeper terrain, greater exposure, and routes requiring solid climbing technique and experience.

Surf Areas & Recommended Experience Levels
The Algarve offers one of Europe's most diverse surfing coastlines. Within a relatively short driving distance, surfers can choose between the sheltered beaches of the south coast and the powerful Atlantic swells of the west coast.
From the bays around Lagos to the world-class surf beaches of Sagres, Carrapateira, and Arrifana, every area offers unique conditions depending on swell direction, wind, tides, and surfing ability.
To help families choose the most suitable locations, we classify the coastline into three experience categories.
South Coast – Beginner & Family Friendly
Perfect for families, improving beginners, and smaller surf conditions. The south coast around Lagos and Praia da Luz is often protected from strong northwest swells and winds. These beaches provide gentler conditions, smaller waves, and a more forgiving learning environment, making them ideal for families and surfers building confidence beyond their first lessons.
Sagres, Carrapateira & Arrifana – Intermediate - Advanced
For surfers with previous surfing experience and ocean awareness

Family Surfers with Independent Ocean Skills
The beaches around Sagres & Westcoast offer a wide variety of waves and are often surfable throughout the year. Depending on the conditions, surfers can find everything from mellow point-like waves to more powerful beach breaks. A good understanding of lineup etiquette, currents, and wave selection is recommended.
